Ile de Re

Is an Island lying just to the Northwest of La Rochelle linked by a 3 kilometre causeway (we cycled over to the Island and back...........only 30 miles today!)

The Island is very pretty and the main village is St Martin de Re.  The village is surrounded by a huge fortified and moated wall with entry gates to the village

The Church in St Martin looks old and decrepit from the outside but has a false roof inside!

And a lovely little harbour in the town....
